Hello from always sunny (well, sometimes rainy) Roatan!  I cannot believe that we are already a quarter through the 2022 school year here at Charmont Bilingual Academy. I can certainly say that things have been off to a great start! The students, old and new, could not be happier to be back in their regular school environment and routine. For so many, it is a huge relief to walk through the front gate, knowing they are somewhere they are safe and loved.  We have numerous volunteers helping both in assisting in the classroom and teaching their own classes and clubs. Along with core subjects in English and Spanish, students are receiving comprehensive computer classes, powerful drama classes, and even lively music classes from local musicians. Yes, our Monday "School of Rock" is a favorite for many, thanks to the coordination from our senior class.  Another great thing that has happened this year is the establishment of a parents group. They have been tasked with doing various fundraisers to help raise money for the school. I was happy to see some of the parents really jump in head first with lots of ideas. I cannot wait to see what they do! The funds they raise will be added to the money made from Roatan Mobile Massage's monthly raffle to help with the food program or other various projects around the school.  Familias Saludables has been buzzing lately as well! The clinic got a little facelift with new signage and a paint job. More people have been coming in for HIV testing, the women's support group has been reinstated, and they just welcomed a new baby to the formula program. These are the things that the clinic is about and we are so very thankful for the donors that help make it all possible!
