A trip to the States isn’t perfect unless you’ve had Dunkin’ Donuts! So, during our four hour drive to Key Largo, we stopped at a DD to get these bad boys.
We stayed at the Hampton Inn. It was a beautiful hotel surrounded by huge palm trees. We were located on the bayside, so we had the most amazing view. At night, you could see so many boats on the water, it was absolutely beautiful.
The next day, we visited the Everglades Alligator Farm. This is a must-see because there were so many alligators there. I couldn’t even count them all, that’s how many there were. They had fully grown gators, but also baby gators and gators of every age in between. I must admit, the babies were quite cute! We got to feed them and some people even got to hold some babies!
They also had these beautiful parrots. They would scream ‘Hi’ all the time, which was hilarious. Apart from gators and parrots, the Everglades Alligator Farm also has tortoises, turtles, owls, fish and emus.
We also took the airboat to see some gators live in action. The airboat tour was so much fun. They go really fast and we even did some 360’s on the water. You do get wet during the tour, but it’s so hot out that you won’t even mind.
At the end of our day at the Alligator Farm, we got to try out some gator bites, also known as alligator nuggets. For those of you who want to know what they taste like: they taste exactly like chicken so they were quite good!
We had lunch at The Fish House, a really cozy, small restaurant that’s decorated in the most adorable way! If you’re ever in Key Largo, I really recommend visiting this restaurant.
In the afternoon, my dad got to do something that has been on his bucketlist for a very long time. He got to swim with dolphins. My mom, brother and me were allowed to watch from the side, take pictures and film his entire experience. It was a pretty good day.
Next stop: Miami (again) 😉
