Emilie In DC: Week 13

April 23, 2017

This week, I had to say goodbye to my amazing internship… But aside from that, I did do some other things as well!

On Monday, I visited the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History (talk about a mouthful…). I wrote a blog post on it, so you can find that here!

On Tuesday, I started my last week at C-SPAN. When I got home, I watched Sherlock (duh.) and checked the weather for NYC, where I’m traveling to next week. It looked good back then but unfortunately, the forecast now says it will rain on Monday and Tuesday… Can we all keep our fingers crossed so it won’t be that bad?

On Wednesday, the interns at C-SPAN got to visit the Newseum. It’s one of the only museums in D.C. where you have to pay to get in, so I wasn’t going to visit it on my own. I’m really happy that C-SPAN sent us there because the museum was AMAZING! It had some unbelievable pieces and exhibits on things that were huge in the news. For example, they have two plane engines from one of the 9/11 airplanes.

On Thursday, we got a complimentary reusable tote bag for Earth Day!

The interns at C-SPAN also visited the Supreme Court. We got a look behind the scenes and it was really interesting. Also, how can you not love this building? It’s so majestic and beautiful.

Friday was my last day at C-SPAN. I dreaded this moment ever since I started there in January. I handed in my badges and said goodbye to the amazing team I got to work with. This experience has taught me so much and though I was (and still am) really sad to leave, I’m so grateful I got to do this.

To cheer myself up, we went to TJ Maxx and I bought new white sneakers. I wanted to buy the Adidas Superstar Originals but then I saw these ones by Nautica and they were only $19,99! So, I decided to go for it. I also tried on this amazing dress but then I remembered I had a skirt like this so I ended up leaving it at the store.

And then Saturday came around again. I watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. While putting on my boyfriend jeans, I accidentally put my foot in the rip and so now it’s just a really big hole… But, I kind of like it this way!

Tomorrow, I’m packing my bag for NYC… I can’t wait!
