Emilie In DC: Week 12

April 16, 2017

Okay, let’s start off by mentioning that, as I’m writing this blog post, I ONLY HAVE TWO WEEKS LEFT HERE. Two weeks is like a vacation… Anyway, let’s get into the recap of this past week!

I’m starting off this recap on Sunday. Usually, I don’t include Sundays in my recaps because I literally do nothing on Sundays so it’s really not that interesting to see… But this past Sunday, I did do something. We visited Arlington Cemetery. It’s a huge cemetery where people like JFK lay.

For dinner, we went to… you guessed it, The Cheesecake Factory. Three times in one week has to be some kind of record, right? This time though, I didn’t get any cake. But I did get the Tex Mex Eggrolls again because man I would live on those if I could.

On Monday, these American flag pins I ordered arrived. My grandpa, brother and I think my dad (but I’m not sure) asked if I could bring one back for them and so I ordered 10 for $5 of off Amazon. I haven’t really talked about this but Amazon is so amazing! Especially in the U.S.A. because you can buy literally anything and get it delivered to your door within two days (that’s right, even during the weekend)…

At night, I had some cheese pizza and watched the final episodes of The Office. This show was soooo good! Honestly, if you haven’t seen it yet, go watch it right now (and by that I mean right after you’ve read this post, of course πŸ™‚ ).

Tuesday was another beautiful day! Ever since April started, we’ve had the most amazing weather. It’s always 20Β°C+. Also, I caught up on two Riverdale episodes. And if you think that Riverdale and The Office are the only TV shows I’ll mention in this blog post, you’re wrong…

Wednesday, I used that Starbucks card that I got by getting rid of my coins last week. I had a Chicken BLT Salad sandwich and a banana in a mall near Bethesda. I actually really liked the sandwich. It was the closest to real bread that I’ve gotten here in America.

Remember that secret package that my mom sent me a few weeks ago? Well, one of the things in it was this countdown calendar from one of my best friends. She’s really creative and crafty and she made this calendar which starts on my birthday and has a quote for the last few days that I’m here. The Thursday quote was my favorite one so far so I wanted to share it with you.

“Age is of no importance unless you are a cheese.”

On Friday, I started watching Sherlock. I’d had a couple of friends from school recommending this to me but I never really got to watching it. I finally did and I’m kind of mad at myself for not doing it sooner because IT IS SO GOOD. Every episode is about an hour and a half long but it’s really captivating. Probably my favorite detective-show so far. Also, Benedict Cumberbatch is a genius.

Saturday was the laziest day I’ve had here in Washington. I stayed in bed all day watching TV and I finally decided to get up at 5.30 PM (that’s right, PM!) because I wanted to take a shower. After my shower, I had some apple slices and started writing this blog post and that’s really everything I did this Saturday.

Next week is my last week at my internship. The week after that, I’ll be in NYC and it’s so weird to say this but the week after that, I’ll be home for the first time in three and a half months. Let’s get that last week at C-SPAN started!
