Emilie In DC: Week 6

March 5, 2017

Week 6 in D.C. is over. Time for another recap of the week!

Monday was pretty exciting because we went to the Ariana Grande concert! For some reason, I didn’t feel so good that Monday and I didn’t even feel like going. But of course, I’m not passing up the chance to see her live. We went to eat at Five Guys, where I ordered a BLT and some fries (still haven’t eaten a burger here and I’d like to keep it that way!). Before Ariana Grande came on, Little Mix performed. They were the main reason why I wanted to go to this concert, because I missed their concert in Belgium last year. It was a really fun night and both Little Mix and Ariana were amazing!

Tuesday was a normal workday, except for lunch. One of the women working for C-SPAN brought tinga, a Mexican dish that her mom had made. We all sat together in the conference room and had tinga. It was so good. Like I said in my last weekly recap, Mexican is my favorite kind of food here!

On Wednesday, the 12 C-SPAN interns went on a tour in the Capitol. It was really interesting and a lot of fun. We got to see a lot and our tour guide was an employee at C-SPAN. He was really funny and knew everything about the Capitol. My favorite spot in the building is right underneath the giant dome. It’s so beautiful.

Thursday was a normal day, so I don’t really have a lot to tell about it. I did start watching Friends again. This is probably my 6th time watching the entire show. It’s just the perfect show to watch when I’m not feeling good or when I’m a little bit down. You’d think I remember every single thing about every episode by now, but I still crack up at Chandler’s jokes every time.

On Friday morning, I woke up to this view: snow! Well, kind of…

I also ordered this amazing agenda by ban.do from Anthropologie. It was on sale for $14,95 and I’ve always wanted a ban.do agenda. They seem like so much fun to write in.

Since we’ve been having some really beautiful and hot days (over 23°C), the cherry blossom trees are blooming way too soon! The famous Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C. isn’t for another week and a half, so let’s hope they stick around for a little while!

On Saturday, I went to the mall and walked around for a little bit. I also tried a Passion Iced Tea at Starbucks. It wasn’t my favorite thing though. In the afternoon, I facetimed three of my best friends. I met them through our musical company. I love these girls so much, they’re my second family and I miss them a lot. So, I was really happy to see them again.

That’s all for week 6. Next week is week 7 and for those of you counting, that means I’ll be halfway through this entire experience! Time sure flies.
